READING

Algebraic Concepts

¥ Using a variable (y) solves addition, subtraction

   or multiplication  

 Problems (e.g., if y x 3 = 9 and y x 4 = 12 then y

   = 3)

¥ Using a T-chart explain how the change in one 

   quantity is related to a change in another

¥ Demonstrate balance and equality in an  

    equation

Statistics and Probability

¥ Collect and display data using line, dot plots, 

   circle, bar graphs or pictographs

¥ Determines median, mode, range and mean

¥ Determine and describe the number of

   outcomes obtained from a variety of chance 

   devices

Geometry

¥ Define, describe and identify similarity, 

   congruence and symmetry

¥ Use vocabulary and show examples of: 

   parallel, perpendicular, intersecting  lines,

   angles and rays

¥ Measure sides and perimeters of geometric

   shapes and determine area using standard

   units

Measurement

¥ Find the area of rectangular regions without

   using a formula (e.g., counting squares, using

   arrays)

¥ Describe and use units for measuring length,

   area, volume, capacity and temperature in U.S.

Customary and metric units

¥ Measure the length of objects to the nearest

   half inch and nearest centimeter

Computation

¥ Demonstrate addition and subtraction of proper

   fractions and mixed numerals 

¥ Multiply two digits by two digits and three digits

   by one digit with regrouping

¥ Division of three digits by one digit with 

   remainders

 History

   Colorado in various ways

   settlement, use of resources and  economic  

    growth

 Civics

¥ Identifies various examples of government prior

   to statehood

¥ Describes the Òboom and bustÓ economy of

   Colorado

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

 

Demonstrates skills and applies concepts

¥ Locomotion/Rhythm:  Performs jumping skills (e.g. tinkling skills, 

 Chinese jump ropes, jump bands)

¥ Body Management:  Transfers weight from feet

   to hands combined with rolling, balance and  

   locomotors movements

¥ Manipulative:  Utilizes manipulative skills in a

   small game situation
