Discipline Policy

In order to create a positive, safe, learning environment that promotes maximum learning in our classroom, we have developed rules to guide us.

This year our class will be using a discipline system with a classroom money theme. Students will be “paid” for positive behavior, citizenship and completion of work. Payday will be every two weeks. The students will calculate class money earned during the past weeks and put it in their checking accounts. They will be able to spend their fourth grade bucks at our classroom store or auction. This system will provide the students with valuable consumer math experiences in earning money, using checkbooks and calculators, and choosing how to spend money wisely. The following steps will be taken to allow all children to have a chance to learn without distraction:

Every student begins the day with $5.00 and three tickets – green, yellow and red.

1. First incident – Loss of green ticket ($3.00)

2. Second incident – Loss of yellow ticket ($1.00)

3. Third incident – Loss of red ticket ($0.00)

No money is earned and student will call parent.
